How do I access my Windows Control Panel?

Windows Control Panel provides a location from which you can configure the functionality and appearance of your computer.

Access to the Windows Control Panel, and the names of the tools/components found there, vary slightly according to which operating system you are running.

How to access Windows Control Panel in Windows 7 and earlier

In all versions of Windows you can open the Windows Control Panel as follows:

  1. Open a run box. 

  2. Type control and click OK...

How to access Administrative Tools

In all versions of Windows you can open Administrative Tools as follows:

  1. Open a run box. 

  2. Type control admintools and click OK...

Opening other Control Panel windows

You can open many different Control Panel windows by entering different commands into the Run box.
